1st gen or 2nd gen?
Both have a 12.9-inch screen and a home button, but the 2nd gen added a 120Hz ProMotion display. Their screens are different parts. Look for model A1584 or A1652 (1st gen) or A1670 or A1671 (2nd gen) on the back.
Big screen, big cracks
A 12.9-inch tablet takes a lot of force in a fall, and cracks spread quickly across it. The glass is laminated to the display, so we replace the full screen assembly. We check the frame for bends first so the new screen sits flat.
Is it worth repairing?
These models no longer get the latest iPadOS. They remain great for drawing, sheet music and video. A battery or charging port repair is often a good investment, and we will tell you honestly whether a screen repair makes sense.
