Cracked iPhone Back Glass: Do You Really Need to Fix It?

What a cracked back affects

• Sharp edges can cut fingers and snag on pockets
• Small pieces of glass can fall off over time
• Water and dust resistance is gone
• Moisture can reach the battery and wireless charging coil
• Cracks near the camera bump can let dust under the lens covers

What it usually doesn't affect

In most cases the phone works normally, and wireless charging and MagSafe keep working unless the coil underneath is damaged. If wireless charging stopped after the drop, mention it at the diagnostic.

Can you just use a case?

A full case keeps the glass from shedding and protects your hands. It's a reasonable short-term fix if the cracks are small. It won't restore water resistance, so be careful around pools and rain.

Check the camera lenses
